Biography

Dimitrios Vassilakis is a renowned Greek saxophonist, composer, and educator, celebrated for his unique contributions to jazz. With a rich career spanning several decades, he has released five albums under Candid Records: Secret Path (1998), Daedalus Project-Labyrinth (2001), Parallel Lines (2005), Across The Universe (2010), Jazz For Bentley (exclusive branding compilation 2011). His work blends the essence of traditional jazz with innovative, post modern, forward-thinking compositions.

Vassilakis has performed on stages across the world, including iconic venues such as Birdland, Ronnie Scott' s, and Dizzy' s Club at Lincoln Center. His collaborations with jazz greats like Jeff "Tain" Watts, David Liebman, Ralph Peterson, Dave Kikoski, and Abdullah Ibrahim have solidified his place in the global jazz scene. As an educator, he has shaped the next generation of musicians through his work at leading Greek and international institutions, his educational books on jazz and saxophone and with his highly regarded research on jazz and artificial intelligence.
